Located 72 km north of San Luis City, in the Pancanta Valley placed in the Central Mountain Range of San Luis at 1600m above sea level and within easy reach by Provincial Route N°9, RAMA Ranch is located (2.200 ha) where the Forestry Project is being carried out. The geographical location is as follows: (coordinates) S 32° 52´176´´ and W 66° 06´293´´. The soil is cut through by streams and rivers of unpolluted clear water where, in some of them, you can fish for trout. The Río Grande, the main tributary of Río V, flows across the Ranch , the latter being in its basin. Forestry in Rama Ranch aims to produce oxygen and dam water from River V during storms so as to diminish the falling of water from 1600 meters high onto the plain. The main buildings of the ranch are made of stones with 60cm-wide walls; there are also stables for the beautiful Arabian horses, warehouses for the forestry machinery and all the facilities an Argentinean ranch has to offer. IIn the Pancanta Valley the average annual rainfall is approximately 900 mm. It is less dry than the rest of the province. Temperatures in summer do not exceed 30 (°C) High and in winter they can decrease up to -10 (° C) Low. During winter it snows sporadically and not for a long time, but long enough to be able to see the whiteness at the top of the trees. However, there is not too much snow making it practically impossible to practice snow-related sports. Forestry is not a risk-free activity as during spring and summer some late frost can occur thus harming the little planted trees. Ruta Provincial N° 9, km 72 - Valle de Pancanta |
